This 2003 Chevrolet Silverado contacted us seeking to overhaul their system with a new DDIN Touchscreen radio from JVC, Brand new speakers from JCV, and replace a rear view camera that had completely stopped working.
We decided to start this job with the speaker replacement in all four corners since only one speaker was functional when we arrived, and we needed to know if running new wiring into the doors was going to be required.
After removing the door panels, we quickly realized that the stock speakers were so severely aged that they simply were unable to produce any more sound. All of the factory wire was intact and did not require replacement.
We adapted the new JVC CS-DR620 to the existing wiring with some speaker harnesses and brackets from Metra. The Metra 72-4568's gave us a polarity correct, and serviceable wiring connection just like you would get from the factory. The Metra 82-3002's let us mount our new speakers in the factory location without drilling any holes.
Next, we began work on replacing the OEM Radio with a JVC KW-V230BT. This radio will add Bluetooth calling as well as music playback and an in dash screen for the new backup camera!
After removing the old stock radio from the dash, we soldered up our new radio harness and mounted the handsfree microphone and other accessories!
This meant we needed to mount and run our backup camera since it needs to connect behind our new radio. The customer had provided an Esky EC170-09 license plate camera that was replacing an old wireless solution he had installed previously!
Finally, we mounted the JVC KW-V230BT in the dash and preceded to test the functionality of all of the new additions!
