The 1963 Cadillac Convertible is back!
The 1963 Cadillac Convertible contacted us again, this time he was looking to add a bit more volume and clarity by replacing the original 4x10 dash speaker with some brand new Kicker CSC35's!
The original speaker in this generation Cadillac lives underneath the padded dash material. Many other classic cars of this era have a simple removable grill to allow access to the speaker, but Cadillac wanted a sleek one-piece design, so we must remove this to remove and replace the speaker correctly!
Removing the dash pad, while daunting, is a pretty simple affair. First, you must pull the chrome covers for the A-pillars, a handful of screws above the instrument cluster and inside the glove box. Then it is only a matter of a few clips and some careful pulling to have the dash pad out of the car!
Once the dash is out of the way, we can see the original 4x10 speaker mounted to the bracket in the dashboard!
This adapter plate allows us to mount a stereo pair of 3 1/2" speakers in the factory location without any modification.
From here it is merely a matter of looming our new wiring and routing it in the factory channels back to our new radio. This ensures a long service life for the new speakers and optimal performance for our customer!
